With the cheerleader saved, and with her the world, would the second series of Heroes live up to expectations?Well, with only one episode gone in the new series, it is possibly a little early to tell for sure, but the early signs are definitely encouraging. Focusing on only a few characters, rather than trying to catch up with everyone worked really well, although I was only really interested in what happened to one character, and you do find out - albeit right at the end of the episode, but then Heroes wouldn't be Heroes if it didn't make you want to watch next weeks episode right away.
If you've never seen an episode, coming in at series 2 would not be the end of the world, although you would not be introduced into characters. It is, however, relatively easy to catch up and work out what is going on. And I can certainly recommend it...

Moving on from Heroes in general to a hero of mine - Ray Mears. If you've never seen one of his shows, he is basically a survival expert (British at that too) who knows just about everything there is to know about living in the wild. He as done a couple of extreme survival shows, a 'bushcraft' show and a series about wild food (you'd be amazed what you can actually eat just in an average field in the UK). But anyway, he is coming to Stafford to do a talk at the theatre on Friday evening (October 5th). It should be a really interesting evening and if he is even half as interesting in real life as he is on TV, a good time will be had by all.
There are still a few tickets available I think, so if you are in the area why not check it out?
